Each morning begins with chapel, followed by a themed lesson, centers, outside play, specials (motor movement, music, and Spanish), and snack. Full Day includes lunch, nap/rest time, outside play and centers.

Registration for current and newly enrolled St. David's students will begin on Monday, March 2 and for all others on Monday, March 16. Once you've submitted the registration form, you will receive a confirmation email* and Brightwheel Billing will update with your summer tuition balance. Payments can be made through Brightwheel Billing by connecting your credit card or bank account. You can also mail in a check to the office (SDES 1300 Wiltshire Ave. San Antonio, Texas 78209) with the memo: Summer at St. David’s. *Please note: Confirmation emails and billing are not sent automatically, please do not expect to receive an email immediately after submitting registration.

After School Care (2:30 – 5:30) is provided by Be A Champion, Inc. To complete your child’s registration for After School Care, you must create a profile for him/her with Be A Champion. A link will be provided in your registration confirmation email. If your child already has a profile set up, you need to update your information and register for summer by clicking on the Returning Parent link.

Cathy Cummins' Early Bird Reading

Registration Open to children ages 4-7

Early Bird Reading is a proven program created by Cathy Cummins over 36 years ago that has helped more than 20,000 students develop strong reading skills through structured phonics instruction and consistent practice. Led by Cathy's daughter, Michele Cummins, and Ashlie Williams, Early Bird reading is now a part of the St. David's Episcopal School family.

Program Highlights:

• Orton-based phonics instruction using controlled vocabulary readers

• Daily lessons in oral language, rhyming patterns, and the 71 English phonograms

• Word games, manuscript writing, and phonics-based art projects to reinforce learning and build fine motor skills

• Individual read-aloud practice with take-home readers that progress as students succeed

• Reading packets focused on decoding, spelling, vowels, diphthongs, and comprehension skills

• Comprehension Circle for advanced students (main idea, inference, sequencing, and more)

• Daily take-home folder with reading materials and completed work

Parent Partnership:
Consistent practice is essential for success. Families are encouraged to review materials and read with their child for 10 minutes each day to support steady progress.

The Summer 2026 Early Bird Reading schedule is displayed below. To reserve space, please complete the registration form and payment. Summer at St. David's Lunch Bunch is available for students attending the afternoon sessions. This is ONLY available for children who are attending the morning session at Summer at St. David's. You can bridge the 1 hour time gap and your child can stay with their Summer teacher until 12:30 and eat the lunch brought from home. $75/ week. Only available for the first week of Session 4. (Billed through Summer at St. David's) 

• Session I:    June 1-12, 9:00-11:30AM OR 12:30-3:00PM, $800 (10 classes) + $25 Registration Fee
• Session II:   June 15-26, 9:00-11:30AM OR 12:30-3:00PM, $800 (10 classes) + $25 Registration Fee
• Session III: June 29-July 10, 9:00-11:30AM OR 12:30-3:00PM, $720 (9 classes - no class Friday, July 3) + $25 Registration Fee
• Session IV: July 13-24, 9:00-11:30AM OR 12:30-3:00PM, $800 (10 classes) + $25 Registration Fee

*The second week of Session IV (July 20-24) does not have coinciding Summer at St. David's or Lunch Bunch.

**Note: Students may register for more than one session.
