Music Teacher (2026-2027 School Year)

St. David’s Episcopal School is seeking a warm, creative, and dedicated Music Teacher to join our Specials team. This position is ideal for someone who loves young children, values a joyful learning environment, and is passionate about building foundational musical skills through developmentally appropriate, engaging instruction.
 
About the Position
The Music Teacher is responsible for teaching music classes to students ages 16 months through Kindergarten. This role includes creating a curriculum that fosters musical exploration, movement, singing, instrument play, rhythm, and performance skills in a nurturing, play-based environment. In addition to classroom music, the Music Teacher partners closely with the Chaplain to support our daily chapel experience by leading songs and hand motions each morning, and leading chapel independently once a week.
 
Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement an age-appropriate music curriculum for early childhood learners.
  • Teach music classes to children ages 16 months through Kindergarten.
  • Incorporate singing, rhythm, movement, instruments, and creative expression.
  • Lead daily chapel singing with hand motions and joyful engagement.
  • Lead chapel independently once a week.
  • Plan and lead seasonal performances or musical showcases as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with Specials team members (Art, Library, Motor Movement, Spanish) and classroom teachers.
  • Maintain a joyful, positive, and structured learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events.
 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience teaching young children in a school, church, or enrichment setting.
  • Comfort leading singing and movement in a chapel or worship setting.
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Ability to create a warm, welcoming, and engaging environment for young learners.
  • Passion for teaching music and fostering creativity and confidence.

Substitute Teacher

Requirements for this position:

  • Love for young children; experience working with young children

  • High School Degree

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred)

St. David's Episcopal School is in search of qualified applicants to act as substitute teachers as needed. Applicants must have experience working with children and a nurturing and engaging personality.  A High School diploma is required, college preferred.
